Day 1/365 Saturday, 12 April 2008 I thought it seemed fitting to begin this new project with a photo of me--and of one of my favourite toys--my Nikon D50, since it will be an integral part of this whole experiment. The photo is taken in a mirror. I like that you can see some of my husband's African masks on the wall.

Project 365: It's a chronicle of my daily life for one year through a daily photograph-a photo journal of sorts. Some days will be people in my life, others places I've been, or maybe just a random item that catches my eye. Each month I will add another gallery as I work through the 365 days.

Today was mostly a quiet day at home. I loved the texture of this beaded handbag that my in-laws brought back from India for me, so I included it in today's photo. Thanks Howard and Jill!

I have always loved this old Victorian hospital--or rather group of buildings. It's fantastically spooky and rundown in some places and sweet in others (with thoughts like "and he took them in his arms and blessed them" etched into the walls). I had a meeting here today with my supervisor that went well. Her office is housed in the infirmary, so I decided to take along the camera.

So I spent an hour today taking pictures of lighthouses and ponies and ended up choosing a WWII air raid shelter for today's photo.

I went to a baptism for the father of this family from Portugal at my church today. After the meeting was over his two youngest kids were delighted to discover the organ. My camera battery died, so I had to quickly use my mobile phone for this shot before the kids ran off to try the piano too.

This is Andrew's "solitaire" game -- what the people of Reunion Island (in the Indian Ocean) call solitaire, anyway. It's made of rosewood, with each marble made of a different type of semi-precious stone from the neighbouring island of Madagascar. Andrew served as a missionary in Reunion Island, and this was a gift from a grateful person he taught.
