Day 115/365
Monday, 4 August 2008
Once the only hospital in Cardiff, the Royal Infirmary is impractical for modern medicine and has been largely superceded by Llandough Hospital and the University Hospital of Wales. The Royal Infirmary still houses some out-patient facilities and administrative offices, but much of this sprawl of magnificent gothic buildings is closed and derelict. I frequently go there for my work as we have an office there, and often find little forlorn touches amid the decay. This is the entrance to the old pediatric unit, now abandoned.
