Jana J. Shakespeare (cadenza)  > Project 365 > July 2008: Morning-sickness, Madness, and Exhaustion
Pregnancy and Project 365 do not make a great combination! So I've had to use a few cheats for the days when I was just too ill to care. Sorry.

Jana J. Shakespeare (cadenza) > Day 81/365
Tuesday, 1 July 2008
Le Gourdon, a town high up in the French-Alp foothills, is famous for its glass. This gorgeous little piece is one that Andrew bought for me when we visited in June.

Today, our museum-piece Peugeot finally packed up, expired and drove itself to the great highway in the sky. But I need a car for work. The Peugeot was a two-door, and we were hoping to get a four-door once the baby comes, but a few more months from the Peugeot would have been useful. What started as a simple MOT check turned into a disaster of a stressful day (none of the finance companies wanted to trust me as an immigrant of less than two years even though I have a good job), but I'm happy with the end result. The irony was finally finding funding through my husband, even though he is a full-time student with no income right now!
Jana J. Shakespeare (cadenza) > Day 83/365
Thursday, 3 July 2008
We are officially a two-car household, even if only temporarily and the white one isn't legal to drive (or technically to even have on the street, but I don't have off-road parking). I'll probably scrap it this weekend.

Jana J. Shakespeare (cadenza) > I think it's curious that the British police uniform has been updated and made so much more practical and safety conscious, but they retain the famous helmet. It looks so out of place! But it is, of course, a symbol that the whole world recognises, and I guess they feel it enhances their authority.

My grandfather used to love making fun wood items and children's toys. Unfortunately, I don't have many of them, but I did get this one which has always made me giggle. I've kept it at home though since it might send the wrong message in a therapist's office.
Jana J. Shakespeare (cadenza) > Barry town hall, in the city where I work.
Jana J. Shakespeare (cadenza) > 8 July 2008
Camera phone picture of today's pregnancy craving. I've loved McDonald's apple pies since I was a kid and then they stopped selling the crispy fried ones in the States. I went in to mourning till I discovered that Europe still sells the real deal. They're horrible for you and too sweet, but sometimes I just can't help myself.
Jana J. Shakespeare (cadenza) > I've always thought this hunting/outdoors shop window was a cross between funny and creepy. It's something about the stuffed wild animal, with its teeth bared, permanently stuck behind the iron bars.
